5 Products to Make Your At-Home Coffee More Enjoyable

Most of us are spending a lot more time at home these days, and we’re learning to adjust to our new normal. That includes our morning coffee routine.

If you haven’t already, check out my recent DIY tutorial to learn two methods for making flavored lattes (iced or hot!) at home.

But by just adding a few new things to your kitchen, you can drastically improve how enjoyable your at-home coffee routine is. Here are five products that can help:

Insulated Tumbler

If you’re a parent, you know how hard it is to get in that first cup of coffee in one sitting. It usually takes me at least three hours and two microwave sessions and even then, I rarely get a chance to finish.

That’s why I LOVE these tumblers. They are the perfect size, easy to hold (and they fit in standard cup holders so it’ll be perfect to use on your commute once we’re back to normal life) and have a double-wall insulation which prevents sweating (I hate when the outside of a cup sweats!). It’ll keep your coffee hot for up to six hours, no microwaving necessary.

It works super well for iced coffee too – which is what I primarily drink – keeping it cold for 24+ hours!

I also have another one that I use primarily to transport milk for my toddler when we’re on the go – it totally eliminates the need for a cooler!

I also like that the lid is straw friendly because I’m all about sipping through a straw.

It comes in several different colors, and is also BPA free and dishwasher safe. Grab your insulated tumbler here.

My husband has the larger version, which you can find here.

Reusable Silicone Straws

Like I said above, when it comes to iced coffee, I’m all about the straw.

I had previously tried some clear reusable plastic straws, but I found them to become discolored over time. I recently switched to these reusable silicone straws and I love them.

They are compatible with the insulated tumbler I mentioned above, plus they come in a set of 12, so you’ll never stress about not having a clean one to use. They also come with a handy little cleaning tool, which I’ve found also doubles as a cleaning tool for baby bottles (parents, I’m looking at you!).

I love the colors of these, and they’re super great quality, plus, they’re BPA free. Grab yours here.

Cold Brew Pot

My husband is a cold brew junkie, but making it at home can be daunting.

I love the idea of having a dedicated cold brew maker, without taking up much fridge space. This one is a best seller and can hold 2 quarts of brewed deliciousness. It’s also BPA free, which you know I like. Grab yours here.

Flavored Collagen Powder

Flavored coffee, whether a latte, hot or iced, is something that a lot of people enjoy. It makes the whole experience so much better, IMO.

But, if you stop and investigate what’s actually in those flavored coffees, you’ll likely be awfully grossed out.

First of all, when coffee beans come flavored, it’s usually because the beans were old to begin with; the flavors used can help mask old beans. Flavored coffee is made of cheap coffee beans sprayed with synthetic flavoring and bathed in oils to get the flavor to “stick.” And those flavors are typically made up of chemicals.

Let’s say you stick to just the added flavors, you know, the ones they pump into your coffee after it’s brewed? Unfortunately, those are chock full of chemicals too, and lots and lots of sugar. Even the sugar-free options boast a wide variety of chemicals and artificial ingredients.

A healthier option is to opt for flavored collagen powder.

Collagen, in a nutshell, is key to a healthy lifestyle. It supports healthy growth of hair and nails and it provides your skin with structure – as we age, our skin loses collagen, which is partly why we develop wrinkles. Studies have shown that collagen peptides or supplements containing collagen may help slow the aging of your skin by reducing wrinkles and dryness.

Um, yes please!

Collagen also helps relieve joint pain and contributes to bone health, but clearly, those aren’t as attractive as the aforementioned benefits, so I won’t go into too much detail there.

Be mindful of the source from which you purchase collagen – some companies are jumping on the healthy bandwagon and dumping their powders and mixers full of yucky additives, just to make a buck.

I use, love and trust Primal Kitchen, which has an awesome line of collagen drink mixes. My favorite for coffee is the Chai Latte but I also like the Vanilla Coconut. They also make a Peanut Butter flavor and a Chocolate Coconut.

I’d suggest using the tool listed below to mix the collagen into your coffee.

Handheld Milk Frother

If you already read my DIY tutorial for at-home lattes, then you know that we’re obsessed with this little guy. It’s a super affordable and easy way to froth milk at home for your lattes. Grab yours here.

But as I mentioned above, it’s awesome at blending flavored collagen into your coffee – no chunks in sight!
